Last year it was Emerald Green and just as we saw that filter into the Wedding industry in 2013 I’m sure we will see many shades of Orchid this year!

“While the 2013 colour of the year, PANTONE Emerald, served as a symbol of growth, renewal and prosperity, Radiant Orchid reaches across the colour wheel to intrigue the eye and spark the imagination,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society.”

In isolation this could be considered as an old-fashioned shade however on a closer inspection it works wonderfully for wedding flowers, table settings, and stationery – especially when placed against all shades of purples and pinks!

Because of its rosy undertones it is very flattering to most skin shades, producing a healthy glow in those important wedding pics!  It looks great on Bridesmaids as either the dress colour or simply go mad with accessories!

It isn’t old-fashioned! It is vibrant and creates energy! Not only does it look good but it is a very flattering colour too!

Whether you clash it with reds, contrast it with a deep navy or blend it with all shades of lavender, purples and pinks it adds vibrancy to any colour palette being bold without overpowering subtler shades and tones.

Now just because this has been picked as THE colour of the Year that really doesn’t mean that you have to rip up your plans and change your wedding to fit in!

You have to LOVE the colours you choose and it really does need to reflect, compliment or at least fit in with your personality.  Remember to mix your colours – please please please don’t fixate on one colour as on its own it will look flat.  Accent colours are so important to add depth, texture and interest to your scheme!
